Yesterday was a very emotional, heart-wrenching day for me. I have always thought of myself as a compassionate person. I feel other people's pain too much.
I spent my day handing out severance packets to all of our associates. It was very difficult. Like I said yesterday, most of our people have been with the company for many, many years. It was not easy to have to hand them these packets, whose contents held their future, and what the company will be offering them as a severance. I had to look each person in the eye, and see their heartache. It was not easy for me to keep it together. But somehow, I held myself up and continued on with my job, offering smiles and well-wishes along the way.
We have three months until the DC stops shippping to our stores. After that, we have 8 weeks to get all the remaining product out of the buildings. Then, we will finalize the closing of the buildings over the last month. Because of my job, and the position that I hold, I will be here until the bitter end, which right now is slated for 9/25. My boss said we could actually end up working longer, but time will tell.
After that, we will see. I told Donny to tighten up his seatbelt, because we are back on the roller coaster that is our life. Hopefully we can continue to enjoy the ride, even though we are scared to death we are going to fall off the tracks.

Wow that stinks. I am so sorry. I am afraid that this may continue for a while. It doesn't seem like anyone is safe. Hang in there!
